This Community project in South Roscommon grew out of the work of three local projects, the Celtic Eye arts group, set up by Nicola Bowes, the Karst farming project, represented by Liam Kildea and the Taughmaconnell Hall, community. The main aim of the group is to protect and celebrate the unique Karst landscape of South Roscommon its remakable ecology and the stories held within its landscape. The core group involves a number of skilled and enthusiastic people who in the last four years have created a variety of events, exhibitions, intereactive videos, and signs as well as diversity reports and other booklets.
The group are also winning national recognition and awards

South Roscommon ( ROCKS ) €1.6 Million EIP ( European Innovation Partnership ) funding secured to Protect the Unique Karst Landscape & Faming Community of South Rocommon.
There was great excitment last week on receiving this news but especially by the Farmers of the Karst Farming Network who have supported this Karst Landscape project of protecting this Hidden Gem down through the years of generations but especially over the past four years supported by Senus ( Farmeye ), Uí Máine Kingdom Group, Farming Consultants & Organisations.
Uí Maine Kingdom Group would like to also thank everyone that collaborated & supported them over the past four years in highlighting this region, especially St Hilda’s Services ( Athlone ), Irish Wheelchair Association ( Athlone ), Guest Artists, Community, Groups & Orgsnisations.
This has been a wonderful project to be part of & driven by passion to protect our wonderful landscape.
We are all looking forward to the next chapter of this project through this EIP which will be lead by Dr Eoghan Finneran Senus ( Farmeye ) who has worked very hard on securing this funding along with Ecologist Linda Gilsenan & Liam Kildea within the Karst Farming Network over the past few years
