In conjunction with the Karst Farming group, the Celtic Eye artists set out to protect and promote the unique doline limestone landscape of South Roscommon. A part of this project involved the creation of a large community sign, demonstrating the natural diversity of this special area including its animals, water, heritage and folklore. Over six months, this sign was constructed with new artwork created by members of Celtic Eye, alongside their graphic designer Stephanie and with the support of Liam Kildea.
This is just a part of one of their many environmental projects, supporting the stories of the Irish landscape, and I look forward to hearing more about this project, along with others project to come.
Chris, thank you for this insightful and important information in relation to our unique Lanscape and precious heritage. As the new heritage and tourism officer for Ballinasloe, I’m delighted to network and contribute to this collaboration and preservation of these important projects. I’m also the author of Rediscover Ballinasloe and Surrounds and developer of a very popular professional video with the same title. I work closely with Nicola Bowe and Liam Gilday. You can view the Video on the Ballinasloe Life Website. I’m delighted to be associated with this collaborative effort going forward. Thank you all for your great work. Padraig Lyons
